Bought the Universal Kit 10008 Brushed Nickle, now apparently 10002, from Home Depot in February. Now the plating is coming off the handle by the set screw. Can not find a replacement without buying a whole Kit

Can a 1200 Moen cartridge be replaced?
There is no repair kit available for the 1200 cartridge, it can be replaced with a new 1200 or a 1225 cartridge. If the application is Moentrol® 3-function vertical spa transfer valve, then it can be replaced with the 116719 cartridge. Higher flow-rate valve for tub and shower applications.
