Boiled Pork Intestines: A Traditional Chinese Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 500g Pork Intestines
  • 5 slices Ginger
  • 1/2 stalk Green Onion
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking Wine
  • Assorted Spices (star anise, dried hawthorn, tsao-ko, etc.)
Instructions:
  1. Clean the pork intestines by removing fat and rinsing with salt and water. Start with cold water in a pot, add green onion segments, ginger slices, and cooking wine. Bring to a boil and skim off any scum.
  2. Add salt and spices such as star anise, dried hawthorn, tsao-ko, etc., and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Use kitchen scissors to cut the intestines into small pieces and continue to simmer on low heat for another 30 minutes. Then, remove from heat.
  4. Your boiled pork intestines are ready to enjoy!
