Easy Vegetarian Spicy Hot Pot

Notes

Ingredients:
  • Potatoes, 2
  • Lotus root, 1 section
  • Cabbage, 1 head
  • Thai peppers, 8
  • Spicy beef sauce, 1 spoon
  • Perilla sauce, 1 spoon
  • Shrimp (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Cut the potatoes and lotus root into pieces. Set aside.
  2. Chop the cabbage and prepare any other vegetables you'd like to add.
  3. Boil water in a pot and cook the vegetables.
  4. Once the water boils, reduce to medium heat and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove the vegetables and set them aside.
  6. In a separate pan, heat some oil and fry the Thai peppers.
  7. Add a spoon of spicy beef sauce and a spoon of perilla sauce.
  8. Fry the sauces until aromatic.
  9. Add the boiled vegetables to the sauce, mixing well.
  10. Cover the vegetables with cabbage.
  11. Add a bowl of water, just enough to cover the potatoes.
  12. After the water boils, reduce to low heat and cook until the vegetables are tender.
  13. Increase to high heat at the end to reduce the sauce.
  14. Your spicy vegetarian hot pot is ready to serve. Adjust salt to taste.
