Here’s another thread from Cake Central about Safeway frosting. My grandma used to work at the Woolworths bakery, MANY years ago. She was famous for her store-bought icing. Take a box of shortening out of the fridge. Add 1 teaspoon of cal ills and one of almond flavouring. In large beater bowl whip at high speed.
The icing has not changed since sobeys bought safewsy. It did change about 5 years ago but not recent. Oh man I miss the old icing!!! Bring it back lol Lol, the icing has not changed.. It has changed. It’s my favorite, but we usually only get Safeway cake for my birthday as the rest of the fam prefers others.
(This may take some time.) Add salt, vanilla and whipping cream to desired consistency, beating at low speed. Increase speed to high and whip until frosting is light and fluffy, 5-10 minutes. Makes enough icing for a 22×33 cm (9×13 in) cake.
Unbelievable Whenever I felt like a great piece of cake I would get one of Safeway pre-cut sliced white cake with white buttercream. This buttercream is like none other! Today I went to Safeway to talk to the bakery about their incredible white buttercream.
