If you want a low key Mardi Gras celebration this year, these individual king cake crescent rolls are made with cinnamon, sugar, and cream cheese and topped with decadent sprinkles. Nothing says Mardi Gras like a sweet and flaky King Cake! But first, here’s a little Mardi Gras history for you if it isn’t really your holiday.
Press the crescent rolls together at their middle in a round circle, allowing the edges to remain loose. In a mixer, combine cream cheese, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until well blended.
Then, fold the wide edges of the dough over the cream cheese mixture, tucking the ends under the inside of the crescent ring. Lightly press to seal any open creases. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden. Allow the king cake to cool slightly but not completely.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Position the triangles next to each other with the points toward the center, overlapping the long sides about 1/4 inch, forming a large round, on the baking sheet.
