The Balfour’s Frog Cake is a South Australian institution – they even have their own Wikipedia page AND have been designated a South Australian Heritage Icon by the National Trust of South Australia.
Frog cake. The frog cake is a dessert in the shape of a frog’s head, composed of sponge cake and cream covered with fondant. Originally frog cakes were available exclusively in green, but later brown and pink were added to the range.
Frog Cakes, small frog-shaped cakes, were introduced by Balfours Bakeries in the early 1920s and named as a South Australian icon in 2001. Australian Food Timeline
