Ambitious bakers might want to pipe strawberry-flavored meringue roses and then dip them in dark chocolate, or create heart-shaped macarons to fill with cinnamon buttercream frosting. Making Valentines’ Day mini cakes mean you can enjoy everything that you love about traditional cake but in a size that invites additional sampling.
These mini heart-shaped cakes are so great for the kids to decorate and enjoy as a Valentine activity at home or at school. The cake mix is made according to package directions and spread in a 12 x 17-inch baking sheet to bake for just 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 12 x 17-inch baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and set aside. In a large mixing bowl, prepare cake mix as directed on the box using water, oil and eggs. Spread batter evenly into prepared baking pan.
The cakes would be good on their own, but it’s the outer coating of red, white, and pink Valentine’s Day candies that really makes them special. The decorations make the cakes so cheerful and fun! I used an assortment of chocolate and gummy candies on the cakes (listed below) but feel free to mix it up and use your favorites!
