The Advocate Fig Preserves Cake recipe is very easy to make. Cream the oil, sugar and eggs. Sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg) and add to the batter along with buttermilk. Fold in the chopped pecans and fig preserves and pour into well oiled and floured cake loaf pans and bake.
Make the Fig Cake Gather the ingredients. Heat oven to 325 F. Generously grease and flour a Bundt cake or one-piece tube cake pan. Make sure you cover all of the nooks and crannies of the cake pan. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar, baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and spices. Stir to blend thoroughly.
I have been looking for some fig bread that you can use fig preserves in. Do you think I could adjust this recipe to use my figs already preserved in it? Reply HildaSternersays September 25, 2019 at 1:17 pm Yes you can. I would use less, however. Maybe 3/4 of a cup and reduce the sugar to 1 cup. Let me know how it goes! Reply Nancy Tomaszaksays
If using frozen figs, make sure they are defrosted and drained first. Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients just until incorporated. Pour batter into a greased and floured bundt pan, or two loaf pans. Baking time for the cake should be approximately one hour.
